Live-In Care at Home in Fairfax, Virginia
A dedicated caregiver living alongside your loved one, present through the day and available through the night.
Creating Meaningful Days for Your Loved One at Home
Home Is Not Just a Place
For someone who has lived in the same house for thirty, forty, fifty years, home is not a location. It is the accumulation of a life. The chair by the window. The garden that took decades to get right. The kitchen where everything is exactly where it belongs.
Moving away from all of that is not simply a logistical change. For many seniors in Fairfax, McLean, Vienna, Arlington, and across Northern Virginia, it is a loss that touches something fundamental about who they are. Live-In Care through Thrive at Home exists to make that move unnecessary.
Full-time, in-home care from a dedicated caregiver who lives alongside your loved one, knows them well, and is backed by an agency with over 15 years of experience serving Northern Virginia families.
Our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call (703) 383-9300 to start the conversation.
What Live-In Care Actually Means
Live-In Care means one of our caregivers resides in your loved one’s home, present through the day and available through the night. Not a rotation of faces. Not a shift change at 7pm. One person, woven into the daily rhythm of life in the home, who knows your loved one well enough to notice when something is slightly off before it becomes something serious.
Live-In Care includes a designated sleep period for the caregiver, typically six to eight hours, during which they are available if needed but are resting. For individuals who require someone actively awake through the entire night, a combination of live-in and overnight care may be the right structure. Our Registered Nurse will help determine the right arrangement.
A Day That Feels Like Home
Morning at your loved one's pace
Help with getting up, bathing, dressing, grooming, and breakfast prepared the way they like it.
Through the day
A walk if the weather is right. Lunch together. An errand. A favorite program. A conversation that goes somewhere real.
Evening together
Dinner prepared and shared. The end of the day unfolds at a pace that works for your loved one.
Through the night
The caregiver rests in a private space in the home. If your loved one needs assistance, someone is there.
Housekeeping woven in
Light housekeeping happens naturally through the day rather than as a clinical task.
Medication reminders
A caregiver reminds the client when it is time to take medication, following the care plan.
Who Live-In Care Is Right For
Families reach out for Live-In Care when:
A loved one needs hands-on support throughout the day and cannot safely be left alone for extended periods
Cognitive decline has progressed to the point where continuous presence is a safety necessity
A significant health event has made it clear that the previous arrangement is no longer adequate
The family caregiver has reached the limit of what they can sustain alone
An assisted living facility has been discussed, but the family and their loved one are not ready or willing to make that move
A loved one has made it clear, more than once, that they will not leave their home
The Thrive at Home Standard
Live-In Care is the most intimate caregiving arrangement that exists. A person is living in your loved one’s home. They share meals, witness private moments, and become over time a meaningful presence in daily life. The standards we hold for that relationship reflect how seriously we take it.
Our caregivers are employees, not contractors. Every applicant completes a rigorous screening process: criminal background check, driving record check, sex offender check, skills testing, professional references, and tuberculosis testing. A minimum of two years of experience is required. Our owner reviews every application personally.
Once care is underway, an experienced Registered Nurse conducts periodic quality assurance visits. Thrive at Home has been serving Northern Virginia families for over 15 years, from our home in Fairfax to communities across the region.

This letter is to express my gratitude for the wonderful care and support your team provided to my Husband SK while under your care. Special thanks to S who was our angel in the form of our caregiver. I can’t say enough good things about S that could describe what relief she brought to us. She was kind, knowledgeable, happy and best of all she knew what we needed which changed daily.Everyone who was sent to care for SK did a commendable job as did the office staff. Muriel who took so many of my calls was always patient and understanding. What your team did for us will always be remembered and appreciated and I hope they know how important the job they do really is.Gratefully
“My mother has been a client with Thrive at Home for the last six years. The primary daytime caregiver is awesome, knows mom well and has dealt kindly with her changing personal and medical needs. The other caregivers who come, when the primary can not, are also great. I have been comfortable in leaving mom in their capable and experienced hands, to include some overnight stays. The office personnel are easy to work with, very helpful and work with scheduling needs. I would highly recommend Thrive at Home if you need part-time or full-time care for your loved one”
Isata is the perfect match for my mother. She is caring and very professional. My mom loves her

I appreciate the care givers positive attitude and going with my father to PT so they observe what he is doing in order to practice it when he is in his apartment
I had Carol for 5 days, 4 hours a day. She was competent, caring and a pleasure to help me with my every need

Live-In Care FAQs
Live-In Care is designed to grow with your loved one. As needs evolve, we adjust the care plan accordingly. Thrive at Home is a long-term partner, not a one-time arrangement.
It begins with the on-site nursing assessment, which captures the full picture of your loved one's needs, preferences, daily routines, and home environment. The match is discussed with your family before placement.
Long-term care insurance frequently covers Live-In Care. Review your policy for live-in or 24-hour care benefits and daily benefit limits. The VA Aid and Attendance benefit may also apply for eligible veterans.
In most cases within 48 to 72 hours. Because live-in placement involves careful matching and an on-site nursing assessment, it may take slightly longer than hourly arrangements.
Live-In Care means one caregiver resides in the home with a designated sleep period of six to eight hours. They are available if needed but resting during that time. 24-hour care involves rotating caregivers in shifts so someone is actively awake at all times.
